Short and Sweet

A 006 Here I’ve attempted to send a New Years kiss your way, but I was a little drunk in this photo so I look more cross eyed than anything.  Nonetheless, Happy New Year!  I spent mine in Koh Samui where some friends from LA were also celebrating. Never in my life have I seen such an incredible fireworks show  that just kept going and going and…(primarily because there are no laws here, so every Joe-Schmo was setting them off)  Before leaving Railay, I met a darling and very cool Norwegian girl, Nina, and she traveled to Samui with me for the journey.   It turns out that she will be in Cambodia volunteering for two months (which is something I’m strongly considering) so we might meet up again.  Always nice to make a new friend!   While in Samui we did nothing but relax on the beach, drink coconuts, swim, and…that’s it I guess!   Thailand is a lovely country, and I’ve had a great time, but I’m definitely ready for a change of scenery.   As of tomorrow I will be in Bali!

What a small world – half way around the world and you run into sigma chi buddies – just can’t get away from that Santa Barbara connection.

  2. I was in Samui for the last 2 weeks of December 2006 and had a grand time – I always do! The trendiest part of the year is ‘tween late May until November (the monsoon season). When I was there, it rained a a few times, but then promptly dried up after. Many people visit in the high season (November to March) because of enjoyable temperatures, blue skies and low rain. As a answer tourism is at its highest and everything can be a little more pricy. Hotels and tours can be quite packed and some tourist hot spots are not quite so laid back.
